We’re headed to San Diego! Join Omeo America for our first Made to Move Event!
While everyone knows the Omeo + a sandy beach = a magical time, this isn’t just a day for sand and sun. We have partnered with a non-profit organization, VIP NeuroRehabilitation Center, to help fundraise for their center providing free and low-cost care for those suffering brain or spinal cord injuries or other debilitating conditions like stroke, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy.
VIP NeuroRehabilitation Center has a history of serving San Diego with high-quality rehab care for spinal cord injuries; no one knows this better than director and former patient David Charbonnet. In 2011, right before his first deployment as a Navy Seal, while on a training exercise, David’s chute failed to operate correctly, leaving him paralyzed. While completing his rehab through VIP, David fell in love with the center and its mission. Shortly after his treatment ended, he learned the center was failing financially. Knowing they needed a change, the board asked David to come on as president. Seeing an opportunity to bring the same joy and encouragement to others he received during his care at VIP, David agreed to take over, recruiting his wife to serve as treasurer of the center. Both work for VIP for free, ensuring that their fundraising efforts go directly to supporting as many patients in need as possible.
Omeo America first became acquainted with David when the Gary Sinise Foundation surprised him with an Omeo. Since then, we have enjoyed seeing what he has done with VIP NeuroRehabilitation Center over the years and are excited to come alongside him on this mission to provide excellent care for those who need it most!
Join us in an open house-style event to experience the Omeo at the historic Liberty Station while meeting spinal cord injury clinics from the area, as well as other adaptive resources and services available to the San Diego community. Check back soon for more details on featured Veteran run businesses, adaptive resources, and suppliers who will be partnering with us on this Event.
Can’t make it to San Diego? You can still support the VIP NeuroRehabilitation Center by donating to their cause.
