VIP is proud to welcome our newest scholarship recipient, Andrew and his family! We are honored to help them and look forward to seeing more of their journey! Andrew's mom shares their story below: On May 3,2007 while driving down the road, my then husband handed the wheel off to our 11 year old son to attend to a iPod. Our oldest son misguided a turn and the truck struck 3 trees impacting Andy to the head, face and chest each time. Andrew who was 3 at the time and his sister of 4, were NOT in car seats!! I unfortunately was not there, nor did I know about my children’s accident until it was too late. For the past 11 years I have done everything I can to rehabilitate my son! Everything! I researched and followed for 6 years about the robot and spider cage only to know that my family could not afford the extensive amount of care he needed. In 2015, I retired from the Marine Corps and have devoted my entire life to advocating, educating and striving to rehabilitate not only my son but also assist those with disabilities!! Today, sitting in the car only moments before going in and receiving this email stating that he has help in this, I broke down for the first time crying!!! Thank you, thank you so very much!!! You really have no idea how much my family appreciates this and how grateful we are!!!! We look forward to this amazing adventure with you all and you can bet HE WILL RECOVER!!!! |
