VIP NeuroRehabilitation Center (VIP) is proud to announce a new chapter in VIP’s story, beginning May 2023. Over the last 9 years, VIP has been led by VIP President and patient, David Charbonnet, and supported by his wife, Janet, as VIP Administrator. VIP saw amazing growth and service to our patients during this season. Under this leadership, VIP served 242 patients and their families, provided over 25,000 hours of therapy, hosted 8 annual fundraisers, raised $166,000 for the VIP Scholarship Program, received grants from the Cushman Foundation, David C. Copley Foundation, Integra Foundation, Sundt Foundation, Quad Foundation, McKenzie Memorial Fund, and Billingsly Foundation, and partnered with organizations such as Beyond the Teams and 3 of 7 Project to raise incredible support for VIP’s mission. David and Janet value their time working with the incredible VIP Rehab Team, past and present; and proudly state that none of these successes would be possible without them. As life has changed and become full in new ways for the Charbonnet family, David, and Janet will be stepping down from their roles in VIP and proudly passing the torch to a very deserving individual. David will remain active as VIP’s Chair of the Board and head fundraising efforts for the clinic and Janet will be focusing more time at home with their three children. David wanted to share the impact this season at VIP has had on his life: “VIP started out as just a means for me to do rehab after my injury and get better physically. But as time went on I realized that VIP gave me the opportunity to regain what I had really lost, the opportunity to serve people. Getting to be part of VIP and helping others gifted me a new lease on life and brought a new passion to my whole family. I am forever grateful for that.” And now, VIP is proud to announce that our very own, Brian Terrell, will step into the role of Executive Director in May 2023. Brian began working at VIP in 2016 as a Physical Therapy Technician and has been promoted multiple times over the last 7 years for his hard work, consistency, and understanding of patient needs. His most recent role as VIP Manager has prepared him well to take on the role of Executive Director of VIP and we are confident he will excel as leader of the non-profit. Brian is supported by our Board of Directors and amazing staff as this transition takes place. Brian’s passion for neuro recovery started with his own neuro injury and this personal connection makes all the difference in one’s commitment and passion to help others. As a teenager, Brian was diagnosed with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in his cervical spinal cord after a week of sudden and unexplained paralysis. After lengthy hospital stays, multiple surgeries, and years of dedicated physical and occupational therapy, Brian was very fortunate to regain strength and function. Brian's background in kinesiology and personal experience dealing with neurological deficits allows him to help and develop connections with others. David and Brian are seamlessly moving ahead into their new roles with excitement and renewed passion. Within the next few months, Brian will be hiring additional staff to support VIP patients and their families. David is working on a fundraiser partnership with Omeo Technologies. This event will take place on Saturday, July 8th 2023 at Brick in Liberty Station and all support will go to VIP therapy. We hope you will join us in July and keep an eye out for additional team members coming soon. Lastly, please take a moment to thank David and Janet for their service to VIP and welcome Brian into his new role. We are excited to see the amazing impact VIP will have during this next chapter!
